This course is focused on business practices for the independent photographer. Topics include copyrights, release practices, cost analysis, negotiations and marketing practices. Students will apply appropriate software to manage expenses and track financial status.

Lab/Classroom Policies: Clean up after yourself. No food or beverages in the room, ever. E-mail, video games, instant messaging, inappropriate use of the web, cell phones, music without headphones, will NOT be tolerated. Be professional and constructive. During presentations full attention will be given to the discussion.

Grades: Work will be evaluated throughout the quarter (not just the due date) for understanding of the assignment, concept/idea, depth of investigation, amount of challenge, time/effort, technical quality and overall effectiveness. Your grade will also be affected by attendance, participation during lab time, participation in and preparedness for discussions, group work and other class assignments, as well as use of class time, general involvement and interest. The grading scale is: A 100-93% A- 92-90% B+ 89-88% B 87-83% B- 82-80% C+ 79-78% C 77-73% C- 72-70% D+ 69% D 68% F 67% and below

 

Attendance: Attendance is mandatory. Students who accumulate a total of 4 absences in a course will be dropped from the course and a grade of W or F (withdrawn/failed) will be recorded for the course. 15+ minutes late is an absence.

 

Late work will NOT be accepted without a formal written excuse. The excuse and ALL work is due the first class back.

 

Tardiness: Don’t be late, your grade WILL be affected. Two tardies will count as an absence.
